Plein Air painting with Rowan (at the Esquimalt Lagoon)

The Garden
I am endlessly inspired by my backyard garden. The colours, the smells, the birds, the crunch of a fresh snap pea.
And the way that moving in for a closer look transforms it to a place of beautiful semi-abstraction.
The Ocean
Growing up by the ocean, many of my happiest moments are when I am either beach-walking or out on the water (esp. sailing!). I have moved away at times, but the call of the sea always brings me home.
Plein Air
Painting outdoors, year-round. With the bugs, wind, snow, rain, sun, delightful passersby, and often, awesome fellow painters.
Animals
Animals are another favourite for me. This series grew out of doing art with my then 2 year old grandson while we were doing “ABC’s”… which led into an ongoing series of “ABC Animals”.
Potpourri
This is a mixture of works, as I continue to explore and try to be bold.
Some inspired by music, some figurative, often with a touch of whimsy, fantasy, and a sense of playfulness.
